Well folks, our little church has officially made it three months. In church planting world, a win is a win, so I will now take a pause for you all to applaud me in celebration…

Thank you.

We wrapped up our first three months with an end of the year check-in to get a pulse on how things were going. So, I figured it’d be nice to share a check-in with you all too who have been here along for the ride. So here it is: the wins, the challenges, and also the part of our feedback form that made me cry.

The Wins

Redefining Pastoring and Leadership

I would say a solid 80% of my desire to plant a church and to do so in this way came from witnessing for many years what the Church did to pastors. Since the age of 19 I have watched as countless pastors and ministry leaders became less convicted, more lonely, more isolated, and more jaded the longer they stayed within ministry, especially local church ministry. Planting a church like this has been largely centered around my unshakable belief that this isn’t God’s desire— that there is no way in hell the God of perfect goodness and the fullness of joy would call or require his most committed saints to a lifetime of low-level misery and constant burnout.

Many if not most of the defining characteristics of our church have been about ensuring my care, my flourishing, and my fullness of joy are also prioritized. And ya’ll it is just the craziest thing— it’s working!
