I really love this idea. Say more, please! What would it in fact look like, if the wider gathering honored the smaller gathering? What’s your vision for how that would play out?
I think there are a lot of creative ways this could be implemented in traditional churches starting with including these leaders in important church decisions regarding vision, mission, beliefs etc. and more holistic training of leaders to include trauma informed care, conflict resolution, etc. but honestly, at the end of the day, it will take a radical desire to de-center the Sunday morning gathering and greater humility within existing church leaders to want to actually be changed by their people.
I no longer believe the traditional Sunday model allows for either of these things to happen organically without great cost to most leaders and the budgets their salaries are dependent on. It's why we are doing church differently, from the ground up, emphasizing these principles in the very structure we are built off of.
